Since 2009, the State of Oregon has purchased statewide aerial imagery every 2 years. The data quality has improved over time, but to pay for these products and acquire them consistently is a struggle. Sometimes funding from the legislature is available, but most of the time we are “passing a hat” to collect funds that can contribute to the purchase. The State’s Geographic Information Officer (GIO) has a new vision for Oregon’s Statewide Imagery Program; one that requires an immense amount of planning, collaboration, and commitment from all levels of government in Oregon. Why? Because the goal is to acquire and provide a set of imagery products on a consistent basis that supports all levels of government operating in Oregon. Therefore, the portfolio of imagery and derivative products for this new, refreshed program is quite different. This presentation will provide an overview of the GIO’s vision for the statewide imagery program and discuss the Oregon Imagery Portfolio that is being drafted today to support this endeavor.
